Kansas 3, UMKC 0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-21)

Lawrence, Kan. - The UMKC volleyball team dropped its match at the Horejsi Center on Tuesday night, 3-0, to Kansas.  The 'Roos received a balanced effort in the match, as one player from each class finished with seven kills.  Senior Jamie Hagerman, junior Christina McCarthy, sophomore Elizabeth Beck, and freshman Emily Lucas all notched the team-high seven kills in the match.

In the first set, the squad fell, 25-14.  The 'Roos stayed close earlier in the set, as the score was tied at five, 10 points in.  The Jayhawks, however would use a 20-9 run to close out the set, including scoring the last three points to go up 1-0 in the match.  Nicole Kerkman registered six of her team-high 16 digs in the set, while Lucas notched three of her kills.

The Kangaroos were downed, 25-16, in the second set, as Kansas jumped out to a quick lead at, 3-0.  The 'Roos would fight back to tie the game at four, but KU would use another big run to close out the set scoring eight of the last 12 points.  Setter Erin Wellwood and Holly Schmidt each tallied four assists in the set, while Beck led the team's attack effort, netting three kills.

In set three, the 'Roos fought hard, but would eventually fall, 25-21, to end the match.  In the set, the squad was tied late at 18-18, but the Jayhawks would reel off the next four points and seven of the final 10 to take the match.  McCarthy would record three of her kills in the set, while Schmidt and Wellwood added seven and six assists, respectively.

In the match, McCarthy notched her career high in kills, attacks, and hitting percentage, finishing with 16 attacks and a .375 hitting percentage to go along with her seven kills.  Schmidt recorded a team-high 15 assists, while Wellwood finished with 12.
