CEDAR CITY, Utah.- The South Dakota State men's cross country team captured its first-ever Summit League Championship, while the Southern Utah's women's team won its ninth championship, Saturday, in Cedar City, Utah.

South Dakota State recorded 59 points to win the men's title, followed by Southern Utah with 64 points and Oakland with 72 points. IUPUI (115), Oral Roberts (132), and North Dakota State (140) garnered spots three through five, respectively. Western Illinois (185), UMKC (189), IPFW (225) and Centenary (292) rounded out the field. For the women, Southern Utah led the way with 32 points, followed by North Dakota State (96), Oral Roberts (115), Oakland (121) and South Dakota State (124). In sixth-place, IUPUI recorded 125 points. IPFW (159) earned seventh place and UMKC (163) followed closely in eighth. Western Illinois (218) and Centenary (309) rounded out the ninth and tenth spots.

Southern Utah's Cameron Levins won the men's title in a time of 24:48.00. Last year's Championship MVP, Jonah Lagat from Oral Roberts, recorded a second-place finish (24:48.70). Cosmas Ayabei from UMKC placed third (25:09.50), followed by Kevin Sandall from Southern Utah (25:26.70). Garnering a fifth-place finish was Zack Jones from Oakland (25:33.70). In sixth-place, with a time of 25:33.80 was Michael Krsnak of South Dakota State and IUPUI's Joe Hoffman placed seventh (25:50.30).The top-seven finishers all earned All-League First Team accolades.

Levins was named the Championship MVP, while Ayabei was named Newcomer of the Championship. South Dakota State's Rod DeHaven was tabbed Coach of Year.

Sharla Manuele, from Southern Utah, claimed the women's title in a time of 21:50.00. Manuele was followed by SUU teammate Diana Medina (22:09.50), and Sheila Ndasym from Oral Roberts claimed third-place (22:18.20). South Dakota State's Ashley Storm collected fourth (22:32.10), followed by SUU's Madalyn Olpin in fifth (22:38.70). Kristen Radcliff from Oral Roberts (22:43.60) and Ana Paez from IUPUI (22:46:70) came in sixth and seventh place, respectively, rounding out the All-League First Team selections.

Manuele was named women's Championship MVP, while Second Team All-League selection Whitney Curtis from Southern Utah earned the Newcomer of the Championship honor. Southern Utah's Eric Houle was named the Women's Coach of the Year.
