IUPUI 1, IPFW 0
INDIANAPOLIS - (www.iupuijags.com) The IUPUI women's soccer team celebrated Senior Day by clinching a share of The Summit League regular season crown on Sunday afternoon after knocking off in-state foe IPFW, 1-0 at Kuntz Memorial Stadium. Sophomore Megan Hock scored the game-winner in 65th minute, thanks to assists from Natalie Holland and Alicia Brock on the play.

It marked the second straight regular season title for the IUPUI program and upped the current school record to 15 victories.

While IUPUI (15-4, 7-2 Summit) was the more aggressive offensive team from the outset, IPFW (4-12-1, 3-6 Summit) did a good job of keeping the Jaguars from getting clean looks. IPFW goalkeeper Kristen McFadden snuffed out a pair of first half Hock breakaways, including a diving stop where she plucked the ball from the IUPUI forward's foot before she could strike.

The Jaguars finally broke through in the 65th minute, set up by Brock drawing a foul along the end line on the right side of the field. On the ensuing free kick, Holland chipped a ball to the far post that Brock headed back towards the right side. Hock was in the right place at the right time to poke the ball over the painted line for her sixth school record tying sixth game-winner of the season. It was her tenth goal overall of the year, placing her second in The Summit.

Defensively, IUPUI bottled up The Summit's top scorer, Lisa Underwood, thanks to some tight marking by junior defender Kelly Williams. Williams shadowed the IPFW forward nearly the entire match, limiting her to just two attempts in 90 minutes.

Underwood nearly tied the match with a drive in the 83rd minute, but was otherwise held at bay.

Farrell finished with four stops in her seventh shutout of the season.

McFadden made eight saves as Hock led all players with five attempts.

Western Illinois 2, Oakland 1
MACOMB, Ill. - (www.goleathernecks.com) The Western Illinois women's soccer team secured a spot in The Summit League Tournament with a 2-1 win over Oakland, Sunday, Nov. 1.

Katie Condon's goal in the 85th minute gave the Fighting Leathernecks (8-7-2, 5-3-1 Summit League) the lead and Western would hold on to earn a spot in the league tournament for the first time since 2007.

Condon's goal came when she collected a loose ball in the box and knocked in a shot from six yards out for the game-winner. It was her second goal of the season and her second game-winner.

The win for the Leathernecks brought the season to an end for Oakland, as the Golden Grizzlies (7-9-1, 4-4-1) were knocked out of the postseason.

Western Illinois got on the board first when Ali Smyth knocked in a penalty kick in the 59th minute after the game was delayed due to red cards on both benches. It was Smyth's team-leading fifth goal of the season.

Oakland would tie the match on a penalty kick of their own in the 84th minute. Sarah Lynch's shot snuck just past the outstretched hands of Leatherneck goalkeeper Laura Atkinson to bring the teams even at a goal apiece.

Condon's game-winner came just over a minute later at the 84:19 mark to give Western a 2-1 lead with just over five minutes to play.

Oakland outshot Western by a 15 to 13 margin but the Leathernecks finished with seven shots on goal to five for the Golden Grizzlies. Kellie Julius led Western with three shots on goal.

Laura Atkinson finished with four saves on the day to pick up her fifth win of the season. The Golden Grizzlies finished with six corners to Western's three and Oakland committed 14 fouls to the Leathernecks' 10.
