Each month, The Summit League will feature outstanding student-athlete performances from a selected institution as recognized by its Faculty Athletic Representative. The May installment of The Summit League Scholar-Athlete Spotlight features three student-athletes from South Dakota State University. 

Ketty Cornemann, Women's Basketball
Eligibility Year/Hometown: Sr./ Yankton, S.D.
Major: Health, Physical Education and Recreation
GPA: 3.83

Cornemann, an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team selection during 2009-10 season, was a two-time second team All-Summit League selection (2009, 2010). A member of the all-tournament team at the 2010 Summit League Championship, Cornemann became the 28th player in Jackrabbit women's basketball history to score 1,000 career points, finishing with 1,042. As a senior, Cornemann averaged 10.9 points and 3.8 rebounds per game and led her team by shooting 45.4 percent from three-point range. She was a key member of Jackrabbit teams that won 102 games, captured back-to-back Summit League postseason titles and made four consecutive postseason appearances (WNIT in 2007 and 2008, NCAA Tournament in 2009 and 2010) during her four-year career. Off the court, Cornemann served as president of SDSU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for two years and was honored on The Summit League All-Academic Team and Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence.

John Lee, Baseball
Eligibility Year/Hometown: Sr./Mason City, Iowa
Major: Chemistry
GPA: 3.89

Lee leads SDSU in hitting, batting .422  and ranking among the national leaders in runs scored as of late April. A two-year starter in right field for the Jackrabbits, Lee played one season each at Nebraska and North Iowa Area Community College before transferring to SDSU. The senior has recorded hitting streaks of 11 and 12 games during his two-year career with the Jackrabbits. Off the field, Lee was honored on the Academic All-Summit League Team and Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence last season and plans to attend medical school after graduation.

Emily Tschetter, Swimming and Diving
Eligibility Year/Hometown: Sr./Brookings, S.D.
Major: Biology/Pre-Dental
GPA: 3.91

Tschetter, a four-year letterwinner for the Jackrabbit women's swimming and diving team, set a school record in the 400-yard individual medley (4:33.43) en route to a third-place finish at the 2010 Summit League Championships. She also placed fourth in the 200 breaststroke (2:20.79) and sixth in the 100 breaststroke (1:06.01) at the 2010 league championships. A team captain, Tschetter was active in a number of community service activities, including assisting with the Brookings County Youth Mentoring Program, tutoring students and serving as a student ambassador for SDSU's Admissions Office. She was honored on The Summit League All-Academic Team and Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence.
