Erik Kangas Claims Second Straight Summit League Player of the Week Award

 ELMHURST, Ill. – Oakland’s Erik Kangas claimed his second consecutive Summit League Player of the Week award after averaging 30 points per game and 7.5 three-pointers per contest in a pair of victories. Kangas is the first player to earn back-to-back accolades since the 2004-05 season (Oral Roberts’ Caleb Green, Feb. 14-21).

 

For the week, Kangas shot a blistering 65 percent (15-for-23) from beyond the arc and set Oakland’s school record for career treys while moving into fifth place on The Summit League’s all-time list.

 

Kangas connected on 8-of-11 three-point attempts Thursday against IUPUI in an 11-for-15 shooting performance that netted him 33 points on the night. In his next outing, Kangas collected 27 points and a career-high four steals while hitting 7-of-12 long-range attempts and 9-of-17 from the floor.

 

In three games over the past two weeks, Kangas is averaging 33.0 points per game to go along with 64 percent (23-of-36) three-point shooting.
