Summit League Announces Commissioner’s List of Academic Excellence

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Summit League announced its Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence Thursday morning, honoring student-athletes for their outstanding work in the classroom during the 2017-18 academic year.

In total, 538 student-athletes accumulated 594 selections to the Commissioner's List for Academic Excellence.

South Dakota captured The Summit League Institutional Academic Achievement Award as the Coyotes recorded the highest percentage of list-eligible student-athletes on the Commissioner's List. This is the second time in program history USD has taken home this accolade, with the 'Yotes also doing so in 2011-12.

The Summit League also recognized Team Academic Achievement Awards in each sport based on the percentage of list-eligible student-athletes on the Commissioner's List. Omaha had a league-best six teams claim individual sport honors, while South Dakota and South Dakota State earned three awards each. A total of 10 institutions captured at least one sport award.

Omaha women's golf was the only squad to land all of its eligible student-athletes on the list. Of the 538 student-athletes honored, 127 earned all A's while 57 maintained perfect 4.00 cumulative grade-point averages (GPA).

In order for a student-athlete to be selected to the Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence, the student-athlete must carry a 3.50 or better cumulative GPA, have used a year of eligibility and completed one academic year at the nominating institution.
