Each month, The Summit League will feature outstanding student-athlete performances from a selected institution as recognized by its Faculty Athletic Representative. The March installment of The Summit League Scholar-Athlete Spotlight features three student-athletes from IUPUI.
Lindsey Richards, Softball
Eligibility Year/Hometown: Sr./Nineveh, Ind.
Major: Social Work
Richards is amidst putting the finishing touches on a spectacular academic and athletic career for the IUPUI Jaguars. While maintaining a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout her collegiate career, she has been a three-year starter in the outfield for the IUPUI softball team. Recently, Richards learned she'll be receiving the Chancellor's Scholar Award, which recognizes a degree-seeking student in the final year of the program who has the highest cumulative GPA. Richards will officially be honored on Friday, Apr. 25 on the IUPUI campus. On the field, the senior is one of the best defensive outfielders in The Summit League and is a .213 career hitter entering this season. She's been named to the league's Academic Honor Roll as a Distinguished Scholar every year of her collegiate career.
Jose Pablo Segurola, Men’s Golf
Eligibility Year/Hometown: Jr./Vitoria, Spain
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Junior Jose Pablo Segurola is among the IUPUI Athletics Department's top performers, both in the classroom and on the golf course. The Spaniard ranks among The Summit League leaders in stroke average this season and was a key member of IUPUI's NCAA Tournament team in 2012. He has five career top 10 finishes, including recently winning the Frito Lay Taco Bell Intercollegiate in Philadelphia, Miss., to start the spring slate. The co-captain has been named to IUPUI's Academic Advisor's List every semester of his collegiate career and was on The Summit League's Commissioner's List for Academic Excellence in 2012.
Jordan Hanaway, Women’s Cross Country and Track

Major: Health Science
