Inside The Summit League
Now in its second season, “Inside The Summit League” is hosted by Tom Nieman. Visit thesummitleague.org/itsl to view the list of channels and times or to watch online.  This week’s show includes highlights of postseason tournament basketball action and the campus spotlight on Denver.

Baseball
Summit League play begins this weekend … Western Illinois hosts South Dakota State for a doubleheader on Friday followed by a twinbill against North Dakota State Sunday … Meanwhile, Fort Wayne will host the Bison Friday while Omaha welcomes the Jackrabbits on Sunday.

Women’s Basketball
South Dakota State hosts Minnesota in the Sweet 16 of the Postseason WNIT Thursday night at 7 p.m. CT … Midco Sports Network will air the game with Tom Nieman and Brad Newitt on the call … The Jackrabbits are looking to become the first Summit League team to win three postseason tournament games.

Golf
On the men’s side, Western Illinois hosts the Beu/Mussatto Invitational this week … Other league teams competing in the event include IUPUI, North Dakota State, South Dakota and South Dakota State … Omaha travels to Monroe, La., for the Wallace Jones Tournament … On the women’s side, Fort Wayne, IUPUI and Western Illinois are at the Saluki Invitational while South Dakota and South Dakota State are competing in the John Kirk Panther Intercollegiate … In the latest Golfstat rankings, Denver is ranked No. 38 while Tonje Daffinrud is the No. 11 ranked individual in the nation.

Softball
Six teams are competing in league play this weekend … IUPUI hosts North Dakota State as the Bison open league play … Western Illinois welcomes South Dakota State, while Fort Wayne puts its undefeated (3-0) league record to the test  hosting South Dakota … The league ranks 13th in the initial NCAA softball RPI with three teams in the top-90, Fort Wayne (58), North Dakota State (75) and Omaha (87) … Four teams and 14 players are ranked in the top-30 of the latest NCAA stats, including in the top-10 of 11 different stat categories with one national leader … Individually, Sammy Marshall ranks in the NCAA top-20 in six categories and in the top-six in four, including first in batting average (.547), second in runs per game (1.44) and sixth in on-base percentage (.594) and stolen bases (0.88) … Fort Wayne’s Miranda Kramer is ranked in the top-10 in a pair of categories, sixth in strikeouts (156) and seventh in shutouts (7) … Also in the NCAA top-10 are SDSU’s Sammy Bingham fifth in triples per game (0.17), WIU’s Teagan Walsh seventh in doubles per game (0.46) and IPFW’s Larissa Franklin eighth in batting average (.483).

Men’s Swimming & Diving
Denver’s Dylan Bunch heads to the 2014 Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center in Austin, Texas, March 27-29 … Bunch will compete in the 500 free today, 200 free on Friday and the 1,650 free on Saturday ... He enters the NCAA Championships ranked 14th in the 1,650 free (14:54.60) … ESPN3.com will live stream finals sessions on Friday and Saturday or click here for live results.

Men’s Tennis / Women’s Tennis
This week’s men’s tennis action is highlighted by Saturday’s match between Fort Wayne (2-0 Summit League) and IUPUI (1-0) … This week’s ITA polls have Denver’s  women team at No. 69 … Denver’s Henry Craig is ranked No. 91 in singles while the Pioneers’ doubles tandem of Craig and Alex Gasson is ranked No. 42.

Outdoor Track & Field
Six teams are in action this weekend … Summit  Leaguers have combined for seven top times/marks in the NCAA top-30, including a two in the top-15.
