Inside The Summit League
Now in its second season, “Inside The Summit League” is hosted by Tom Nieman. Visit thesummitleague.org/itsl to view the list of channels and times or to watch online. This week’s show highlights fall sports action, has an interview with South Dakota volleyball player Kendall Kritenbrink, asks Summit Leaguers their favorite Halloween costume growing up and features South Dakota State in the campus spotlight.

Men’s Basketball / Women’s Basketball
The Summit League began its “Countdown to Tip-Off” Wednesday, which features previews of all 16 men’s and women’s squads. Click here for a rundown.

Cross Country
The 2013 Cross Country Championships will take place in Fort Wayne, Ind., on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the Hefner Complex … The men’s 8k race starts at 11 a.m. ET and the women’s 6k race is at 12 p.m. ET … In the latest USTFCCCA Regional Rankings, the South Dakota State men are ranked No. 11 in the Midwest Region, while IUPUI’s men’s team is No. 15 in the Great Lakes Region … On the women’s side North Dakota State is ranked No. 14 in the Midwest Region.

Golf
The fall men’s golf season wraps up this weekend as Denver is participating in the Pacific Invitational.

Men’s Soccer
Denver became the first Summit League team to clinch a berth in the postseason tournament … The Pioneers are 4-0 and have outscored opponents 12-0 in league play … DU goalie Oliver Brown enters the weekend with a school record 408-minute scoreless streak and is tied for the school-record with an active streak of four consecutive shutouts … This weekend’s league action features IUPUI (2-1-1) at Western Illinois (2-2) and Denver (4-0) at Oral Roberts (3-1) on Saturday and Omaha (1-3) at Eastern Illinois (1-3-1) on Sunday.

Volleyball
With three weekends left in league play, IUPUI and South Dakota are tied atop the league each with a league record of 7-2 …  Three players are ranked in the NCAA top-10,  Denver’s Brea Muhle is fifth in the NCAA in hitting percentage (.465), while South Dakota’s Kendall Kritenbrink is fifth in points per set (5.45) and 10th in kills per set (4.66) and Fort Wayne’s Emily Spencer is eighth in kills per set (4.77) and seventh in points per set (5.37) … A pair of Summit Leaguers are still ranked in the NCAA’s top five for active career leaders,  USD’s Kritenbrink is fifth in kills per set (4.38) and Fort Wayne’s Spencer is fourth in attempts per set (12.02).

Women’s Soccer
Denver clinched the No. 1 in next weekend’s tournament and finished the league schedule 7-0-0 … South Dakota State has also secured a spot in the tournament … Denver is ranked No. 13 this week in both the NSCAA/Continental Tire National Poll, its highest ranking of the season, and the NCAA RPI report … League teams are a combined 37-36-12 (.506) against non-league opposition this season … Summit League teams are .500 or better vs. 11 of the 17 conferences in which they have competed against this season … Entering the final weekend of the regular season, Fort Wayne, North Dakota State and Western Illinois are vying for the final two spots in the league tournament … As a team, Denver is ranked in the top-10 in the nation in seven different statistical categories.

Swimming & Diving
Denver’s men’s team is No. 26 and the women’s team is No. 39 in the Endless Pools/CollegeSwimming.com Poll … Four league teams are in action this weekend … Omaha hosts Iowa State on Friday and Kansas on Saturday … Also in action on Saturday, the Denver women host Air Force and Western Illinois hosts Truman State, while South Dakota State is at Green Bay.
