WIU’s Ellis, SDSU’s Kenkel Capture #SummitBSB Awards

ELMHURST, Ill. – Western Illinois infielder Mitch Ellis was named Summit League Baseball Player of the Week, while South Dakota State starter Ethan Kenkel garnered the Pitcher of the Week award for their performances during the week of April 3-9.

  • Registered his first career Player of the Week award
  • Went 4-for-4 with a triple, three runs and an RBI in Friday's win over Omaha
  • Added three hits in four at-bats Saturday and followed that with a pair of hits Sunday
  • For the week, batted .529 (9-for-17) with four runs scored, three RBI and two stolen bases
  • Had a .647 slugging percentage and .529 on-base percentage in four games
