FARGO, N.D. -- North Dakota State University sophomore right-handed pitcher Riley Johnson was named one of Collegiate Baseball Newspaper's National Players of the Week after tossing the sixth solo no-hitter in NDSU program history and the first no-no of the 2018 college baseball season Friday, Feb. 23, against Central Connecticut State.

A native of Apple Valley, Minn., Johnson became the first Bison pitcher to throw a solo no-hitter since Jay Mitchell threw one against Augustana (S.D.) during the 2004 season.

Johnson struck out a career-high eight batters while tallying only one walk in his nine, no-hit innings, helping NDSU claim a 2-0 shutout victory over the Blue Devils.

North Dakota State travels to Minneapolis Tuesday, Feb. 27, to face Minnesota at U.S. Bank Stadium.
