NEWTON, Kan. – The Summit League announced its 2016-17 all-league men's golf teams at the annual awards banquet Saturday evening, prior to the start of The Summit League Men's Golf Championship in Newton, Kan. The awards were determined through a vote by the league's nine head coaches.
North Dakota State's Will Holmgren has a trio of top-10 finishes, including a third-place finish at the John Dallio Memorial, and ranks fourth in the league with a 73.35 average. He fired a season-low 68 in the second round of the SDSU Jackrabbit Invitational.
South Dakota's Tommy Vining rounds out the all-league first team. The sophomore shot a third round 66, his season low, at the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate, is fifth in the league in stroke average at 73.50 and has three top-10 performances.
The second team consists of IUPUI's Austin Crowder (74.76), North Dakota State's Andrew Israelson (74.08), Alejandro Restrepo (74.72), Fort Wayne's Zach Schroeder (73.75) and South Dakota's Cody Seal (74.37).
The 2017 Summit League Men's Golf Championship takes place Sunday-Tuesday at the Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kan. Live stats will be provided through Golfstat, and updates available via Twitter @summitchamps.
