ELMHURST, Ill. – The University of Denver women's golf team made headlines Wednesday afternoon, making its season debut on Golfstat's NCAA Division I Poll at No. 24.
The top-25 ranking is the highest a Summit League team has ever recorded in the Golfstat poll, and it is also the best ranking the Pioneers have garnered since 2010 when they climbed all the way to 11th in the country (Denver did not join the league until the 2013-14 season).
The national recognition comes ten days after the Pioneers won the 2017 Ron Moore Women's Intercollegiate with a first-place tally of 15-under 849. Denver bested second-place Oregon State by nine strokes and capped off the tournament with a program record 16-under 272 third-round scorecard.
The victory at Ron Moore was the second-consecutive for DU, as the women also outlasted the likes of Pepperdine, Arizona and Louisville to secure the team title at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Wolcott, Colo., on Sept. 27 with a three-round total of 8-over 872.
