North Dakota State 78, IUPUI 40
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - TrayVonn Wright had 16 points including four 3-pointers and grabbed seven rebounds to lead North Dakota State over IUPUI 78-40 on Thursday night.
Lawrence Alexander scored 11 points, pulled four rebounds and had three assists, Jordan Aaberg chipped in with 10 points and the Bison shot 57.4 percent as a team including making 15 of their first 24 shots in the first half to take a 38-18 lead at halftime.
North Dakota State (16-3, 7-0 Summit) hit 12 3-pointers, out-rebounded the Jaguars 35-22 and had 22 assists. The Bison led by as many as 43 in the second half and never trailed in the game.
Mitchell Patton scored 17 points to lead IUPUI (6-15, 1-6), which has lost five straight. No other player scored in double figures for the Jaguars.
The Bison held IUPUI to just 31.1 percent shooting on the game including a dreadful 26.1 percent mark in the first half.
South Dakota State 59, Western Illinois 53
MACOMB, Ill. -- Nate Wolters scored 22 points and surpassed the 2,000-point mark for his career, helping South Dakota State snap Western Illinois' 11-game winning streak and hand the Leathernecks their first Summit League loss of the season with a 59-53 victory Thursday night.
Wolters, the Jackrabbits' all-time leading scorer, now has 2,010 points. He also had six assists, five rebounds and three steals Thursday.
Jordan Dykstra added 12 points and Chad White had 10 points and nine rebounds for South Dakota State (14-6, 5-2 Summit) in a rematch of last season's Summit League tournament championship game. The Jackrabbits also won that game in overtime, 52-50, to advance to the NCAA Division I tournament for the first time.
Jack Houpt scored 16 points for Western Illinois (14-4, 6-1), which hadn't lost since Nov. 24 and had been 8-0 at home this season. Terell Parks added 14 points and 10 rebounds, and Adam Link had 13 points.
Oakland 81, Kansas City 68
ROCHESTER, Mich. (AP) - Travis Bader scored 30 points, including 23 in the second half, to help Oakland pull away for an 81-68 victory over Kansas City on Thursday night.
Oakland (8-12, 3-3 Summit) increased its home winning streak to 10 games.
Bader converted 5 of 11 attempts from 3-point range, including 4 of 9 in the second half. He was a perfect 9-of-9 from the free-throw line, all in the second half.
Oakland eased in front after a 33-33 halftime tie, but Kansas City (5-14, 2-5) was within 70-65 with 2:31 left in the game.
Two free throws by Drew Valentine at the 2:05 mark and a three-point play by Bader at 1:22 increased the margin to 75-65.
Valentine scored 19 points and Corey Petros had 16 points and 10 rebounds.
Estan Tyler scored 20 points for Kansas City, including four 3-pointers.
Fort Wayne 62, South Dakota 60
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Isaiah McCray's two free throws with 13 seconds left turned out to be the winning points in Fort Wayne's 62-60 victory over South Dakota on Thursday night.
McCray's foul shots put the Mastodons (9-11, 2-4 Summit League) ahead 61-58, and after Brandon Bos' layup pulled the Coyotes (7-12, 3-4) within two, Frank Gaines was fouled and made one of his two free throws. South Dakota's Juevol Myles then missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer.
Gaines missed all five of his 3-point attempts and was 4 of 16 from the field but still led Fort Wayne with 14 points. Luis Jacobo added 13 and Joe Edwards had 12. Trevor Gruis scored 15 points for South Dakota, and Bos chipped in 12.
Neither team managed more than a seven-point lead in the back-and-forth game. South Dakota led 30-26 at halftime, but Fort Wayne rallied to improve to 7-0 at home this season.
