Western Illinois 43, Fort Wayne 40
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Ceola Clark scored 11 points and Western Illinois, despite not scoring in the last 8 minutes of the game, held on to beat IPFW 43-40 Thursday night.
Remy Roberts-Burnett added 10 points for the Summit League-leading Leathernecks (16-4, 8-1 Summit). Jack Houpt's 3-pointer with 12:49 left was Western Illinois' last field goal, and the Leathernecks didn't score after Don McAvoy's free throws made it 43-31 with 8:35 to play.
Mario Hines led the Mastodons (9-13, 2-6) with 13 points and seven rebounds. Joe Edwards scored with 1:34 left to get Fort Wayne within three, but the Mastodons' Luis Jacobo missed a pair of 3-point tries in the final minute.
Western won the first meeting between the teams 62-50 on Dec. 29 in Macomb, Ill.
Oakland 89, IUPUI 71
ROCHESTER, Mich. (AP) - Travis Bader hit a school-record 11 3-pointers and scored a career-high 47 points to lead Oakland past IUPUI 89-71 Thursday night.
Bader's point total is the highest this season by a Division I player, beating a 42-point performance by Tyler Haws of BYU. It is also the highest single-game total in Oakland's Division I history, and third all-time at the school.
Bader was 11 for 18 from beyond the arc, 15 for 24 overall and 6 for 6 at the free-throw line.
That helped the Golden Grizzlies (9-13, 4-4 Summit) shoot 55 percent overall from the field, including 14 of 30 on 3-point attempts.
Sean Esposito scored 21 points and Donovan Gibbs had 15 for IUPUI (6-17, 1-8), which lost its seventh straight.
Corey Petros added 12 points and 11 rebounds for Oakland, and Duke Mondy had 11 points. The Grizzlies outrebounded the Jaguars 37-18 and swept the season series between the schools.
Omaha 95, South Dakota 90
VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) - Justin Simmons scored 26 points, including five 3-pointers, to pace Nebraska-Omaha to a 95-90 victory over South Dakota on Thursday night.
Simmons scored 16 points in the second half to allow Nebraska-Omaha (6-16, 3-6 Summit) to turn away comeback attempts by South Dakota (8-13, 4-5).
Alex Welhouse and C.J. Carter each scored 17 points for Nebraska-Omaha. Welhouse hit four 3-pointers and grabbed nine rebounds. John Karhoff and Caleb Steffensmeier each scored 14 points.
Juevol Myles scored 26 points for South Dakota, including four 3-pointers. Brandon Bos scored 16 points, Steve Tecker scored 14 and Trevor Gruis scored 13. Tecker and Gruis each had nine rebounds and Bos had eight.
