ELMHURST, Ill. – The Summit League Basketball Championships continued to add to its reputation as one of the nation's best mid-major tournament environments by shattering several attendance records at the March 9-12 event in Sioux Falls, S.D.
With an overall mark of 44,868 fans for the combined men's and women's sessions, the 2013 Championships broke the previous record from last season by over 4,000 fans. Both the men's and women's championship games also set new standards. On the women's side, the attendance of 6,153 topped the previous record of 6,005 in 2005, which included both the men's and women's title games in one session. Additionally, the first men's quarterfinal session total of 6,704 fans on Saturday night and the women's semifinal session total of 5,245 on Monday afternoon each established individual session records.
