Summit League Announces MidcoSN/FOX College Sports Basketball Telecasts

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Summit League announced today that 26 men's and women's basketball games will be produced and televised by Midco Sports Network. Of those broadcasts, 22 will air on national cable television partner FOX College Sports (FCS). Coverage will be spread across all eight weeks of the 2013-14 schedule and all 10 men's and women's quarterfinal and semifinal games at The Summit League Basketball Championships will be available as part of the national schedule.

This season marks the first time that Midco Sports Network will offer all of its 2014 Summit League Basketball Championships broadcasts in High Definition.

Included in the 2013-14 basketball television offerings are 14 regular season men's games on Midco Sports Network, 12 of which will be shown nationally on FOX College Sports. A pair of women's regular season contests will also air on FOX College Sports.

The Summit League season opener between IUPUI, runner-up during the 2012-13 regular season, and five-time defending league champion South Dakota State highlights the women's slate. Two days later, league newcomer Denver and South Dakota kick-off the men's schedule. The following week, two-time defending men's tournament champion South Dakota State debuts when it hosts Western Illinois in a match-up of 2012-13 regular season co-champions.

Rematches of the 2013 Summit League Championship games are featured on consecutive weekends in late January and early February. North Dakota State and South Dakota State, last season's men's finalists, meet on Saturday, Jan. 25. The following week, last year's women's finalists, South Dakota and South Dakota State square off on Sunday, Feb. 2.

"We are pleased to announce an expanded schedule of televised basketball games this season that can be seen both live nationally on FOX College Sports and regionally on Midco Sports Network," said Summit League Commissioner Tom Douple. "Both FCS and MidcoSN provided excellent coverage last season and the league is enthusiastic about their further commitment in 2013-14. This presents additional opportunities to showcase our brand and increase the amount of exposure for our teams and student-athletes."

"FOX College Sports is excited to showcase The Summit League for the third straight year," said Gary Ehrlich, Executive Vice President, FOX Sports Networks.  "The men's and women's tournaments are always full of exciting action.  We look forward to televising a thrilling slate of regular season and tournament games on FOX College Sports."

"Midco Sports Network is pleased to produce and distribute 16 regular season and 10 Summit League Tournament games during the 2013-2014 season," said Mark Powell, Vice President of Business Solutions for Midcontinent Communications.  "We are excited to deliver the 2014 Summit League Tournament in full HD. The HD advancement will improve the viewing experience for fans in our region and showcase the talents of The Summit League athletes on a national stage.  We are also producing 40 weeks of Inside The Summit League to promote the member schools in their athletic and academic pursuits."

The Summit League's weekly original program titled Inside The Summit League will return for a second year on both Midco Sports Network and FOX College Sports.
