Western Illinois 79, Eureka 52
MACOMB, Ill. (AP) - Tate Stensgaard scored 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as Western Illinois routed Eureka College 79-52.
Mike Miklusak and Adam Link also scored in double figures for the Leathernecks (1-3), adding 13 and 12 points, respectively. Western Illinois never trailed, scoring the game's first seven points and building a 40-22 lead at the half.
Western Illinois shot 60.7 percent from the field and was 5-of-10 from behind the 3-point line. The Leathernecks struggled on free throws however, making just 6 of 17.
Western Illinois dominated inside, outrebounding Eureka 39-20 and outscoring the Red Devils 42-16 in the paint.
Marious Lobdell and Seth Wickert led Eureka with 12 points apiece.
Texas Tech 68, South Dakota State 54
LUBBOCK, Texas (AP)- Jordan Tolbert scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead Texas Tech to a 68-54 win over South Dakota State on Thursday night.
Dusty Hannahs added 12 points and hit on all nine free throw attempts and Jaye Crockett had 10 points and seven rebounds.
Brayden Carlson led South Dakota State with 14 points, hitting 4-of-11 3-pointers, and Cody Larson added 12 points.
The Red Raiders got out to a quick lead with four points from Dejan Kravic and led the whole way. The Jackrabbits cut it to six at 56-50 with 5:48 left in the game on a Carlson 3-pointer but Hannahs responded with one of his own to help Tech run away with it.
The Red Raiders (4-1) dominated SDSU (1-4) in points in the paint, 33 to 18, and scored 22 points off of turnovers compared with seven for SDSU.
South Dakota State hit just 20.7 percent (6 of 29) of its 3-point attempts, while the Red Raiders hit five in just 11 attempts.
SDSU's Chad White scored 11 points on the night and became the 44th player to score more than 1,000 points in his career in Division I basketball history.
