SDSU’s Dykstra Named Finalist for Senior CLASS Award

ELMHURST, Ill. – South Dakota State's Jordan Dykstra was one of 10 men's basketball student-athletes named as finalists for the 2013-14 Senior CLASS Award for men's basketball. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence – community, classroom, character and competition. The complete list of finalists follows this release.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

Dykstra currently leads The Summit League in rebounding (7.5 rpg) and double-doubles (five) and ranks second in scoring (16.7 ppg). A two-time Summit League Player of the Week this season, Dykstra ranks sixth among active NCAA Division I players with a .450 career three-point percentage. A biology/pre-dentistry major with a 3.71 GPA, Dykstra was recently named to the Capital One Academic All-District team for the second consecutive season.

The finalists were chosen by national media from the list of 30 men's candidates and 30 women's candidates announced in October. Nationwide fan voting begins immediately to help select the winner. Fans are encouraged to vote on the Senior CLASS Award website through March 24. Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I head coaches' votes to determine the winners. The Senior CLASS Award winners will be announced during the 2014 NCAA Men's Final Four® and NCAA Women's Final Four®.
