INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Mitch Patton scored 14 points as IUPUI picked up its first Summit League win of the year on Thursday night with a 59-49 victory over Denver.

The Jaguars (6-21, 1-9 Summit League) entered the game having lost nine straight and 14 of their last 15 but broke their losing streak, holding Denver (12-12, 5-4) to its lowest point total of the season.

Marcellus Barksdale added 13 points while Elijah Ray and Khufu Najee had 12 apiece for IUPUI, which shot 54.1 percent from the field.

The Jaguars closed the first half on a 9-2 run to take a 25-20 halftime lead and never trailed for the remainder of the game.

Chris Udofia led Denver with 13 points while Brett Olson added 10.

North Dakota State 56, Western Illinois 52
MACOMB, Ill. (AP) - Taylor Braun scored 19 points as North Dakota State topped Western Illinois 56-52 Thursday night, maintaining sole possession of first place in the Summit League.

North Dakota State (19-6, 8-2) held off Western Illinois (9-15, 3-6) late, making 5 of 6 free throws in the last 20 seconds.

The Leathernecks never led after halftime, but kept the deficit within 10 points. With North Dakota State up 46-45, Marshall Bjorklund hit a pair of free throws before Kory Brown's basket with 3:12 left gave the Bison a 50-45 lead.

Jabari Sandifer's 3-pointer with 7 seconds brought Western Illinois within 55-52, but Braun made 1 of 2 at the line as the Bison held on.

Lawrence Alexander scored 14 points while Bjorklund added 12 points for the Bison.

Adam Link and Sandifer scored 13 apiece for the Leathernecks.

North Dakota State holds a one-game lead over Fort Wayne with four conference games remaining.

Fort Wayne 82, South Dakota 75
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Mo Evans scored 17 points and Steve Forbes added 10 with 10 rebounds as Fort Wayne defeated South Dakota 75-69 on Thursday night.

The Mastodons rolled out to a 28-10 lead in the first half as Luis Jacobo sank two 3-pointers, coasting to a 32-20 halftime lead.

South Dakota opened the second half with a 25-9 surge to take a four-point lead near the midway mark. Fort Wayne responded as Evans drained two 3-pointers and Jacobo had a three-point play to take a 57-48 advantage with 6:38 remaining.

The Coyotes pulled within three, but IPFW responded again with two baskets and a pair of free throws.

Fort Wayne (19-8, 7-3 Summit League) outrebounded South Dakota 41-32. Jacobo finished with 15 points and Joe Edwards had 14.

South Dakota (9-15, 3-6) was led by Karim Rowson with 15 points and Trevor Gruis had 14 with eight rebounds and seven blocks.

South Dakota State 77, Omaha 60
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Cody Larson and Jake Bittle each scored 16 points and hauled in 10 rebounds to lead South Dakota State o a 77-60 win over Omaha on Thursday night.

Trailing by a point early in the first period, South Dakota State (15-10, 7-3 Summit League) took control with a 12-3 run capped by a Larson layup that made it 24-16 with 10:52 to go in the half, and never trailed again. The Jackrabbits took a 37-27 advantage into the break and continued to pull away in the second half.

Brayden Carlson scored 17 points for South Dakota State, which out-rebounded Omaha 50-29 in taking its fifth straight win while also avenging last month's loss to the Mavericks.

Omaha (15-10, 4-5) were led by Mike Rostampour, who scored 15 points. Devin Patterson added 13 points for the Mavericks, while CJ Carter had 12.
