North Dakota State 82, South Dakota 54
FARGO, N.D. (AP) - Taylor Braun scored 15 points and pulled down 12 rebounds as North Dakota State clinched The Summit League title with an 82-54 blowout over South Dakota on Thursday night.
North Dakota State (22-6, 11-2) never trailed, opening the game with a 24-3 run en route to a 36-15 advantage at the break, and then continued to pull away in the second half. The Bison needed just one win in their final two regular season games this week to cinch the regular-season conference title and earn a bye through quarterfinals of the Summit League tournament.
Mike Felt also scored 15 points, TrayVonn Wright had 14 and Marshall Bjorklund 13 for North Dakota State, which shot 52 percent from the field and was 11 of 19 from 3-point range in its sixth straight win.
Karim Rowson led South Dakota (12-16, 6-7) with 10 points and four rebounds.
South Dakota State 78, Denver 69
BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) - Brayden Carlson scored 22 points and Jordan Dykstra added 19 as South Dakota State defeated Denver 78-69 on Thursday night.
Dykstra, in grabbing eight rebounds, became the third Jackrabbit in SDSU history to surpass 1,500 points and 800 rebounds in his career.
Cody Larson added 16 points for SDSU (17-11, 9-4 Summit League) while Chad White added 11 points and Jake Bittle a career-high 11 rebounds.
The Pioneers (15-13, 8-5) got 18 points from Jalen Love and 10 from Marcus Byrd. Brett Olson, with nine points, went over 1,000 for his career.
A 7-0 spurt put SDSU up nine, 57-48, with 8 minutes left. Denver would get within six, but no closer.
The Jackrabbits made 24 of 32 free throws with Dykstra and Carson each making 9 of 10. Denver made 5 of 8.
SDSU is tied with Fort Wayne for second place with one regular-season game remaining.
Fort Wayne 65, Western Illinois 56
MACOMB, Ill. (AP) - Luis Jacobo scored 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead Fort Wayne to a 65-56 victory Thursday night over Western Illinois.
Mike Miklusak hit a 3-pointer to pull Western Illinois within two points, 56-54 with 3:45 to play. Fort Wayne closed on a 9-2 run, including five points by Isaiah McCray and two by Jacobo, to seal it for the Mastodons.
Jacobo was 4 of 10 from the field and a perfect 8 of 8 from the line. Joe Reed scored 11 points and Steve Forbes added 10 for Fort Wayne (21-9, 9-4 Summit), which is tied with South Dakota State for second place.
Jabari Sandifer scored 14 points and had four assists to lead Western Illinois (9-19, 3-10). Garret Covington scored 13 points and Adam Link added 10 points with four assists for the Leathernecks, who have lost seven straight.
Omaha 88, IUPUI 66
OMAHA, Neb. (AP) – Mike Rostampour scored 18 and grabbed nine rebounds, Marcus Tyus added 17 points, and Omaha used a 17-0 second-half run to beat IUPUI 88-66 on Thursday night.
Omaha (16-13, 5-8 Summit League) raced out to 25-11 lead less than 10 minutes into the game, but IUPUI closed the first half with an 11-0 run to head into the break trailing 35-34.
A jumper by Khufu Najee 31 seconds into the second half gave the Jaguars (6-24, 1-12) their first lead but, after trading buckets on the next two possessions for each team, Omaha rattled off 17 consecutive points to open up a 56-40 lead with just more than 12 minutes to play.
The Jaguars never got closer than 14 again, and Omaha led by as many as 27.
Justin Simmons scored 15 and John Karhoff added 13 for the Mavericks.
Ian Chiles led IUPUI with 20 points.
