SPOKANE, Wash. ( – Lawrence Alexander scored a career-high 28 points and Carlin Dupree scored four straight points in overtime to propel 12th-seeded North Dakota State to an 80-75 win over No. 5 seed Oklahoma in the second round of the NCAA men's basketball tournament Thursday, March 20, at Spokane Arena.

Alexander, who scored just two points in the Summit League championship game, went 10-for-15 from the field including a career-high four 3-pointers.  His converted four free throws in the final 32.5 seconds to seal the victory. 

Oklahoma's biggest lead was 65-61 before Taylor Braun hit a pair of free throws in a 1-and-1 situation with 32.4 seconds to play in regulation.  Oklahoma's Isaiah Cousins made 1 of 2 foul shots on the next possession and Alexander's 3-pointer with 11.2 seconds left tied it 66-66.

TrayVonn Wright scored 14 points, Marshall Bjorklund finished with 13 and Braun scored 11 for North Dakota State, which improved to 26-6 overall and will play the winner of Thursday night's second round game between No. 4 seed San Diego State (29-4) and 13th-seeded New Mexico State (26-9). 

Cameron Clark scored 22 of his 25 points in the second half for Oklahoma (23-10) and Cousins finished with 17 points, eight rebounds and three steals.  Cousins hit four 3-pointers including three in the first half to keep the Sooners close.

North Dakota State closed the first half on an 11-0 run to take a 37-29 lead into the locker room.  Kory Brown scored to close within 29-28 before a driving layup and 3-pointer by Alexander put the Bison ahead.

It was NDSU's first win in the NCAA Division I tournament and The Summit League's first since 2005 when Oakland won in the opening round.  The league had not won in the round of 64 since Valparaiso in 1998.
