NDSU’s Alexander and WIU’s Sandifer named #SummitMBB Players of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. – North Dakota State's Lawrence Alexander and Western Illinois' Jabari Sandifer were named The Summit League's Players of the Week following their performances Dec. 29-Jan. 4.

Lawrence Alexander, North Dakota State

Alexander earned his second career award and first of the season after averaging 23.5 points, including a career-high performance, in leading North Dakota State to a pair of Summit League victories. In the league opener against Oral Roberts, Alexander had a career night with 31 points, shooting 53.3 percent from the field and 60.0 from beyond the arc. He scored 24 points in the final 14 minutes of the game, going 7-of-8 from the field, 5-of-6 from three-point range, and 5-of-5 from the free throw line during that stretch. Two days later, in the Bison win over South Dakota State, Alexander scored 16 points, pulled down seven rebounds and dished out a pair of assists.

Jabari Sandifer, Western Illinois

Sandifer garnered his first honor after recording the two best game scoring totals of his career while leading Western Illinois to a 2-0 Summit League start. In the opener against league favorite Fort Wayne,Sandifer scored a career-high 22 points, including converting 12 free throws, and had four assists and a steal. In the Leathernecks victory over Omaha, Sandifer scored 20 on 53.8 percent shooting from the field and had six assists, one steal, and one blocked shot. For the week, Sandifer registered a 3.3 assist/turnover ratio.
