Fort Wayne 84, South Dakota State 74

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — Steve Forbes scored 23 points and IPFW beat South Dakota State 84-74 on Thursday.

IPFW (12-11, 5-5 Summit) was down two with 4:02 left in the first when the Mastodons went on a 9-3 run to close the half and led 32-28 at the break.

The Jackrabbits tied it back up at 42 on George Marshall's 3-pointer 6 ½ minutes into the second, but Michael Calder replied with a pair of 3-pointers to put IPFW up seven. Back-to-back-to-back treys by Isaiah McCray, Joe Edwards and Max Landis made it an 11-point game with 4:31 left and IPFW made 10 straight free throws at the end to seal it.

Landis finished with 19 points, McCray had 14 — with four 3-pointers — and Edwards added 12.

South Dakota State (17-8, 8-3 Summit) was led by Deondre Parks with 24 points and seven rebounds. Jake Bittle added 18.

Oral Roberts 78, IUPUI 68

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Korey Billbury had 20 points, 10 rebounds and six assists and Oral Roberts coach Scott Sutton earned his 300th career victory on Thursday, 78-68 over IUPUI.

Oral Roberts (13-10, 6-3 Summit) opened the second with 11 straight points, stretching a one-point halftime lead to 37-25 just three minutes in. IUPUI (8-15, 4-5) closed to 71-65 with 1:32 left, but the Golden Eagles held on with 7 of 8 free throws for their third straight win.

Obi Emegano added 17 points and seven rebounds while Denell Henderson and Brandon Conley added 12 points apiece. Henderson also had five rebounds and six blocks.

Conley had 10 points and all six of his boards in the first half to help Oral Roberts overcome an early six-point deficit to lead 26-25 at the break.

P.J. Boutte scored 17 of his 19 points in the second half and Elijah Ray chipped in 10 for IUPUI.

North Dakota State 64, Omaha 57

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Lawrence Alexander scored 18 points to help lead North Dakota State to a 64-57 win over Omaha on Thursday night.

Alexander now stands in 10th place on the school career scoring list with 1,546 points, passing Brian Sand (1,540). Also, his 83 career wins passed Mike Felt for most in school history.

A.J. Jacobson finished with 15 points and Dexter Werner added nine off the bench for North Dakota State (16-7, 8-2 Summit League), which extended its home winning streak to 22 games.

Omaha (8-14, 2-8) led 42-41 with 12:31 remaining, but 3-pointers from Jacobson and Paul Miller bookended a 14-6 scoring spurt over the next 5:54 which gave the Bison the lead for good.

Marcus Tyus scored 21 for the Mavericks.

North Dakota State holds a commanding 45-28 lead in the series all-time, and is 7-0 against the Mavericks since they moved to Division I in 2012.

South Dakota 75, Western Illinois 61

VERMILLION, S.D. (AP) — Tyler Larson scored 16 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out a career-high seven assists to help South Dakota roll to a 75-61 victory over Western Illinois on Thursday night.

South Dakota had a one-point lead at the break, opened the second on a 14-0 run to take a 49-34 lead with 16:02 remaining, and coasted from there.

Tre Burnette scored 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting, and Brandon Bos added 18 points with five assists and two steals for South Dakota (11-13, 5-5 Summit League) to snap a three-game losing skid.

Jamie Batish hit a 3 to pull the Leathernecks within 54-45, but they would not get closer.

J.C. Fuller had 18 points, Garret Covington had 14 and Batish chipped in 13 points for Western Illinois (8-13, 3-7), which has lost seven of its past eight games.
