Fort Wayne 75, Oral Roberts 69

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) — Max Landis, who had a career-high 27 points, scored nine in the final 3:39 as Fort Wayne held off Oral Roberts for a 75-69 victory in Summit League play on Saturday night.

Landis was 8 of 10 from the floor and made 9 of 10 free throw attempts. Steve Forbes had 13 points and Joe Reed added 12 as IPFW (13-11, 6-5) grabbed its fifth straight win.

The Mastodons led throughout until ORU's Obi Emegano and Korey Billbury hit two straight jumpers to take a 43-40 lead at the 14:30 mark. Reed, Joe Edwards and Landis made three straight layups for a 46-43 lead and IPFW never trailed again.

The Golden Eagles closed to 68-66 with 1:02 left but Forbes hit a jumper and Landis added two free throws for a 72-66 advantage.

Billbury had 19 points, Bobby Word added 16 and Emegano had 14 for ORU (13-11, 6-4).

Denver 88, Omaha 74

DENVER (AP) — Brett Olson and Nate Engesser each scored 19 points to lead hot-shooting Denver in an 88-74 victory over Omaha on Saturday.

Engesser shot 7 of 8 from the floor and finished with six assists. The Pioneers (10-13, 4-6 Summit) combined to shoot 69 percent overall, and 8 of 16 from distance. Cam Griffin scored 18 points and Jalen Love added 16.

Denver led 42-26 at the break and went on an 11-2 run to open the second half and take a 25-point lead with 17:13 left to play. Omaha cut the difference to 13 points on a 14-3 run, and a 3 from Marcus Tyus made it a 10-point game with 5:01 left on the clock. Denver answered with seven straight points to hold on to its double-digit lead.

CJ Carter finished with 20 points and Tyus scored 19 for the Mavericks (8-15, 2-9), who combined for just six assists.

North Dakota State 71, South Dakota 47

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Lawrence Alexander tied his career-high with 31 points and North Dakota State cruised to a 71-47 victory over South Dakota on Saturday afternoon.

Alexander finished with eight 3-pointers, setting a new single-game Bison record for long-range shots. He had 18 of his points in the first half as he and Paul Miller combined for 29 of NDSU's 35 points — and a 15-point lead — at the break. The Coyotes scored just nine points midway through the second half, allowing the Bison a 24-point lead.

NDSU (17-7, 9-2 Summit) was hot from distance, shooting 14 of 22 for almost 64 percent. The Bison continue to hold first-place in Summit League play.

Tre Burnette scored 10 points, the only South Dakota player to finish in double figures. The Coyotes (11-14, 5-6) were 1 of 7 on 3-pointers in the first half and 2 of 11 by games end.

South Dakota State 63, IUPUI 56

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Cody Larson scored 16 points, George Marshall added 15 and South Dakota State held off a late IUPUI run to win 63-56 on Saturday afternoon.

Marcellus Barksdale scored from distance and Khufu Najee converted two at the line to edge the Jaguars within two points, 57-55, with 2:42 left to play. South Dakota State (18-8, 9-3 Summit) had led by eight just under two minutes earlier, but went 3:30 without a field goal.

Barksdale scored IUPUI's only point the rest of the way, while Jake Bittle went 4 of 4 at the line and assisted a Reed Tellinghuisen layup for the Jackrabbits.

Bittle finished with 13 points, four assists and four steals. Marshall had eight of the Jackrabbits' 22 rebounds.

IUPUI (8-16, 4-6) committed 20 turnovers by games end, which led to 21 SDSU points. Barksdale scored 10 points — all in the second half — and grabbed 10 boards.
