ORU’s Emegano Named #SummitMBB Player of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. – Oral Roberts' Obi Emegano was named The Summit League's Player of the Week following his performance Feb. 23-March 1. The award marks the season's final weekly honor.

Emegano earned his second career honor, and second this season, after leading Oral Roberts to a pair of key victories. In a career-high 34-point, eight-rebound performance, Emegano helped knock North Dakota State out of contention for The Summit League Tournament's top seed with a 16-point victory. He connected on 12-of-17 field goal attempts (70.6 percent), including three-of-four from beyond the arc, in the game and outscored The Summit League co-leader by two points, 23-21, during the first half. Two nights later with ORU needing a victory to clinch the No. 3 seed in The Summit League Tournament, Emegano scored a game-high 25 points, including seven of his team's last nine, on eight field goals and nine free throws while adding five rebounds and two steals in a three-point win over Denver. For the week, Emegano averaged 29.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals while shooting 64.5 percent (20-of-31), nearly 20 percent over his season average, from the field and 50.0 percent (3-of-6) from three-point range.
