WESTERN ILLINOIS 82, ORAL ROBERTS 56
MACOMB, Ill. (AP) - Dalan Ancrum scored 25 points and grabbed seven rebounds as Western Illinois snapped a four-game losing streak by thumping Oral Roberts, 82-56 in a Summit League contest Saturday afternoon.
Ancrum's jumper put the Leathernecks in front for good, 10-9, four minutes into the game and drilled a 3 midway through the half for a 22-12 advantage.
Ancrum finished 8 of 14 from the field and 7-for-7 shooting from the line. Kobe Webster added 21 points. Western Illinois (11-11, 2-7) connected on 17 of 19 free-throw attempts (89.5 percent), hitting better than 68 percent from the line for just the second time in Summit League play and first since they shot 87.5 percent in its first meeting with the Eagles.
Sam Kearns scored 12 points to lead Oral Roberts (9-17, 3-6), which trailed by 19 at halftime, 38-19.
SOUTH DAKOTA 76, NORTH DAKOTA STATE 72
FARGO, N.D. (AP) - Matt Mooney scored 21 points, Triston Simpson and Nick Fuller 13 apiece and South Dakota fought off a furious second-half rally and beat North Dakota State 76-72 on Saturday.
Mooney had 18 points and hit all three of his 3-pointers to propel the Coyotes (20-6, 8-2 Summit) to a 44-24 halftime lead. South Dakota hit 7 of 12 from distance in opening up the 20-point advantage. But the Coyotes went cold in the second half, missing seven of their first eight shots, and two free throws by Deng Geu pulled the Bison (12-12, 4-5) within 52-42 with 12 1/2 minutes remaining.
Paul Miller scored 12 with two 3-pointers that began and ended a 14-6 spurt, and North Dakota State trailed 68-65 with 1:44 left. But Tyler Peterson scored seven straight for the Coyotes -- four free throws and a 3-pointer -- and Mooney made 1 of 2 free throws with six seconds to go to preserve the win. Peterson finished with 12 points.
Miller paced the Bison with 24 points, five rebounds and four assists, while Tyson Ward scored 11 with 11 rebounds for his sixth double-double of the season.
FORT WAYNE 91, DENVER 63
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Bryson Scott scored 25 points and John Konchar added 18 and Fort Wayne defeated Denver 91-63 on Saturday.
Scott and Konchar combined to shoot 18 of 27 from the field and Fort Wayne (16-10, 5-4 Summit League) finished 34 of 65 (52.3 percent) from the field.
The Mastadons built an early lead with a 9-0 run when Denver went scoreless for almost six minutes and led 20-7. The Pioneers responded with their own 14-7 run with Jake Pemberton making a pair of jump shots and a layup to close within six with 5:49 before halftime. Xzavier Taylor made a layup and Scott a 3-pointer and Fort Wayne closed the half with a 15-8 spurt and Denver trailed by double figures the rest of the way.
Scott started the second half with a 3 for a 45-29 lead and Denver (10-13, 4-5) never got closer than 15 the rest of the way. Kason Harrell made four 3s and scored 14 points.
Pemberton scored 12 and Ade Murkey and Joe Rosga each scored 10.
