SDSU's Daum Named USBWA All-District

ST. LOUIS – For the second straight season, South Dakota State's Mike Daum has been named to the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) All-District VI squad, announced Tuesday by the organization.

Daum is averaging a double-double of 23.8 points and 10.4 rebounds per game and last week was named the Summit League's Player of the Year for the second time in his career.

The Kimball, Nebraska native has posted 20 double-doubles this season and reach double figures in all but one contest, breaking the 30-point barrier in 12 games. He joined the 2,000-point club earlier this season and on Monday broke the school's single-season 3-pointer record (86). Daum also holds the top two spots on the Jackrabbits' single-season scoring record list after the last two seasons, and is the second-highest scorer in program history.

South Dakota State earned the No. 1 seed in the 2017-18 Summit League Championships and will take on No. 2 seed South Dakota Tuesday in the title game at 8 p.m.

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has released its 2016-17 Men's All-District Teams, based on voting from its national membership of 900-plus. The USBWA has selected All-District Teams since the 1956-57 season, its founding year.
