SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – Summit League officials announced on Thursday that they will conduct an in-person Basketball Media Day on Monday, Oct. 22 in their new hometown of Sioux Falls, S.D. The one-day event will be held at the Downtown Holiday Inn and feature all nine men's and women's basketball coaches from the league membership.
The Summit League and Midco Sports Network have partnered together to bring five hours of live coverage from the proceedings that will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"With our recent move to Sioux Falls, we felt like this would be a great time to bring our coaches together for an in-person event to preview the season and get our fans excited about what should be another great season of both men's and women's basketball," said Summit League Commissioner Tom Douple. "With MidcoSN providing live coverage and the tremendous support we've received from the media in the past, this is shaping up to be a fantastic opportunity for all of our teams to get some added exposure before the season gets underway."
Each program's head coaches will be provided with a 10-15 minute segment on MidcoSN to preview their teams. They will have a similarly-length session with local media in a press conference setting that will be streamed on Facebook Live. Coaches will be made available for brief one-on-one interviews with other media entities upon request following their allotted time.
"MidcoSN is proud to partner with The Summit League on Basketball Media Day. Our coverage will be a terrific opportunity for fans across the region to hear from the League and all of its coaches," said Vice President of Midco Sports Network Mark Powell said.
MidcoSN will once again bring live coverage of The Summit League Championships set for March 9-12 at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls. The regional sports network will provide coverage of all eight quarterfinals and all four semifinals throughout the men's and women's tournaments.
