SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – After leading his team to a pair of road wins to open Summit League play, Purdue Fort Wayne senior John Konchar was named the #SummitMBB Player of the Week by league officials on Monday. It was the second straight week Konchar received the honor and seventh time in his career, which ties him for the fifth most weekly accolades in league history.

Konchar opened league play with the 43^rd double-double of his career, scoring 18 points and adding 13 rebounds in an 84-73 win over North Dakota in a game that was postponed a day due to adverse travel conditions in the Upper Midwest.

The postponement meant Konchar and the Mastodons would have to play on back-to-back days, but that did not deter from the 6-foot-5 guard from turning in one of the best performances of his career. Konchar tallied a career-high 38 points and his 3-pointer with eight ticks of a second remaining in overtime provided the Mastodons with a 90-87 win over the Bison.

Konchar had 21 second-half points to help erase a 12-point halftime deficit, then buried two 3-pointers in the extra session to provide Purdue Fort Wayne with a 2-0 start to league play.

He added eight rebounds and four assists and finished the two-game sweep in the Peace Garden State averaging 28.0 ppg, 10.5 rpg and 4.5 apg.
