#SummitMSOC Academic All-League Team Announced

ELMHURST, Ill. – With the conclusion of the 2016 men's soccer season, The Summit League has announced its Academic All-League Team as voted on by the institution faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors. A total of 12 student-athletes were named to the team and honored for their academic and athletic performances this season.

Regular season co-champion and tournament runner-up Omaha placed a league-best three honorees on the team. Fazlo Alihodzic, Joseph Ghitis and Mark Moulton were all named all-league recipients, while Alihodzic earned Offensive Player of the Year honors.

Tournament champion and regular season co-champion Denver, along with Fort Wayne and IUPUI each had two selections while Eastern Illinois, Oral Roberts and Western Illinois each received one honor. All seven teams were represented by at least one student-athlete on the team.

Two student-athletes, Moulton and ORU's Matthew Rogers, made their third straight appearance on the prestigious team, while Ghitis, DU's Sam Hamilton and WIU's Fernando Pacheco all earned their second consecutive honor.

Moulton (1st Team) and Hamilton (2nd Team) were also recently named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Teams.

To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions.  The men's soccer all-league team is made up of the 11 student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties standing.
