DU’s Shinyashiki, Smith, WIU’s Pacheco, Trilk Named #SummitMSOC Players of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. – Denver forward Andre Shinyashiki and Western Illinois midfielder Alejandro Pacheco were named Summit League Men's Soccer Offensive Players of the Week, while teammates Graham Smith and Tim Trilk garnered the Defensive Player of the Week awards for their performances Oct. 23-29.


OFFENSIVE PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
Alejandro Pacheco, Western Illinois
Sr. // M // La Piedad, Mexico

  • Captured his first career Offensive Player of the Week award
  • Scored the game-winning goal in a tournament-clinching 1-0 victory at Oral Roberts
  • Goal came with 27 seconds remaining in the match on a cross from his brother Fernando
  • The win guarantees the Fighting Leathernecks at least the No. 1 or No. 2 seed in the upcoming league tournament

Andre Shinyashiki, Denver
Jr. // F // Sao Paulo, Brazil

  • Earned his third consecutive Offensive Player of the Week honor
  • Recorded the game-tying goal with 16 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime against Omaha
  • Denver went on to defeat Omaha by a 2-1 score

  • Pioneers allowed just two shots on goal against the Mavericks, the league's top ranked offensive
  • Scored the game-winning goal on a penalty kick in the first overtime period to secure the win vs. UNO

Tim Trilk, Western Illinois

  • Registered his second Defensive Player of the Week award this season and in his career
  • Collected a pair of saves in a 1-0 shutout victory at Oral Roberts
  • The win guarantees the Fighting Leathernecks at least the No. 1 or No. 2 seed in the upcoming league tournament
