Good, Ira and Sertic All Named NFCA All-Region

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Summit League had three student athletes selected to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region teams. Jacquelyn Sertic was selected to the NFCA Division I All-Midwest Region second team while Maggie Good and Emily Ira were selected to the NFCA Division I All-Central Region third team as announced Thursday.

Sertic, the junior pitcher from North Dakota State, compiled an 18-22 record with five shutouts, two saves and 2.78 earned run average. She ranks fourth nationally with 326 strikeouts and walked 81 batters in 274 innings pitched. Sertic has reached double-figure strikeouts 12 times this season including a career and school record-tying 19 strikeouts in the 12-inning win in game one at Georgia Tech on March 25. She allowed opponents a .229 batting average in 47 appearances.

Good, a senior first baseman from IUPUI, posted a .340 batting average with a program single season record 17 home runs and 49 runs batted in (RBI).  She also added 11 doubles on 52 total hits, finishing second on the team with 42 runs scored.  She boasted a team-high .745 slugging percentage with a .444 on-base clip, walking 27 times. 

Ira, the sophomore pitcher for Western Illinois, finished the season ranked second in The Summit League in both ERA (2.85) and strikeouts (241) while only walking 21 batters in 206.1 innings pitched. In league games, she posted a league-best 2.40 ERA while only walking five batters compared to her 90 strikeouts in 70 innings of action. She tallied a WIU program record 19 strikeouts when the Leathernecks beat Oakland and had seven games total on the year with 10-plus strikeouts.

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association has announced that 667 student-athletes from 175 programs have received 2017 NFCA Division I All-Region accolades.  

The awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with first, second and third team selections. NFCA member coaches from each respective region voted on the teams, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2017 NFCA Division I All-American squads.
