NDSU Sweeps #SummitITF Athletes of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. – North Dakota State throws teammates Maddy Nilles and Alex Talley have been selected as The Summit League's indoor track & field athletes of the week for their performances at the Dakota Classic last weekend.  

MADDY NILLES, NORTH DAKOTA STATE

So. // Sherrill, Iowa

  • Competed at the Dakota Classic last Friday
  • Won the weight throw competition with a personal-best 65-4.25 (19.92m) toss
  • Five of her six throws registered Friday surpassed 19 meters
  • With that mark, Nilles currently ranks first in the league and fifth in the NCAA in the weight throw
  • Climbed to No. 2 all-time in school history in the weight throw

ALEX TALLEY, NORTH DAKOTA STATE

R-Fr. // West Fargo, N.D

  • Competed at the Dakota Classic last Friday  
  • Logged a second-place finish in the men's shot put (59-8.25, 18.19m)
  • Added a third-place finish in the weight throw (60-4.00, 18.39m)
  • Ranks first in the league and seventh in the nation in the shot put
  • Also ranks 33rd nationally in the weight throw  
  • Moved to third on NDSU's all-time list in the indoor shot put event
