Four Teams Named to WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll

ELMHURST, Ill. -- Four Summit League women's basketball programs were named to the WBCA Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll it was announced Tuesday. With its four selections, The Summit League was tied for the most of any conference in the nation.

South Dakota State finished second in the Division I rankings with a combined 3.610 grade-point average (GPA) and 10th among all collegiate programs. Since 2004-05, the Jackrabbits have finished no lower than third and have finished in first place four times.

South Dakota placed fourth with a team GPA of 3.595, giving the league two programs in the Top 5. North Dakota State came in 16th place with a 3.402 GPA to earn its fourth appearance on the list. Meanwhile, IPFW had a team GPA of 3.398 for 18th place.

The WBCA Academic Top 25 annually recognizes NCAA Division I, II and III; NAIA; and junior/community college women's basketball teams across the nation that carry the highest combined GPAs inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters for the entire season. The 2011-12 season is the 17th in which the WBCA has produced the honor rolls.
