LAWRENCE, Kan. -- (goyotes.com) Chelsea Gardner's double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds led the Kansas Jayhawks to a 68-60 win over the South Dakota women's basketball team in Allen Fieldhouse on Sunday afternoon.
The Jayhawks (1-0) used a 13-5 run over the final 2:22 of the game to win their season opener. The Coyotes (1-1) had the lead on several occasions in the game and held a 55-53 advantage with 3:47 left, but made just two baskets, had four turnovers and committed eight fouls down the stretch.
Milwaukee 77, North Dakota State 73 | Recap
FARGO, N.D. -- (gobison.com) The North Dakota State women's basketball team (1-1) dropped a hard fought contest to the Milwaukee Panthers (1-0) on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 16, 77-73, in front of an attendance of 479 at the Bentson Bunker Fieldhouse.
With the loss, the Bison fall to 1-1 on the season, while Milwaukee moves to 1-0.
Senior Brooke LeMar led the Bison with 18 points on 4-for-12 shooting, while sophomore Emily Spier posted a career-high 14 points on 6-for-12 shooting. Junior Kahla Becken went 3-for-6 from three-point range and scored 13 points, and fellow junior Marena Whittle posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Holly Johnson also reached double-digit rebounds, pulling down 10 boards, respectively.
Hawai'i 60, Denver 58 | Recap
DENVER -- (denverpioneers.com) The University of Denver women's basketball team (0-1) dropped a heartbreaker to Hawai'i (2-0), 60-58 on Sunday afternoon at Magness Arena. Jordan Johnston (Waterloo, Iowa) attempted a three-point shot as time expired that would have given the Pioneers the win.
Three Pioneers scored in double figures led by junior guard Paige Bradley who tallied 18 points and grabbed six rebounds. Jordan Johnston dropped in 11 points to go along with seven rebounds and sophomore guard Jacqlyn Poss added 10.
