BOCA RATON, Fla. -- (goleathernecks.com) Western Illinois dropped a heartbreaking decision Sunday afternoon (Nov. 23) to Florida Atlantic, as Ali Gorrell's layup as time expired pushed the Owls past the Leathernecks, 90-88. Sophie Reichelt and Ashley Luke recorded career days for the Purple and Gold, as the team fell to 2-2 on the season.
Trailing by three points with 14 seconds left, Malia Kency missed a pair of free throws to give the Leathernecks hope. Reichelt grabbed the rebound and pushed the ball up court quickly to freshman guard Emily Clemens. Clemens drove the lane and kicked the pass out to Reichelt who drilled a deep three with 4.6 seconds left to tie things up at 88. After a Leatherneck timeout, Florida Atlantic got the ball into the hands of Gorrell who drove the length of the court and hit a layup off the glass as time expired to give Florida Atlantic the thrilling victory.

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- (iupuijags.com) The IUPUI women's basketball team was within single digits with seven minutes to go, but a late spurt by #15/17 Michigan State sent the Spartans to a 64-45 victory over the Jaguars Sunday afternoon at the Breslin Center.
Shanika Maddox led the way with eight points and 10 rebounds, while Mikale Rogers added nine points and five boards, but Michigan State's duo of Aerial Powers and Tori Jankoska combined for 39 points, 16 rebounds and 11 assists to lead Michigan State.
The loss dropped the Jaguars to 1-2, with both losses coming to ranked opponents, while MSU improved to 2-1.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- (gomastodons.com) The IPFW women's basketball team dropped the first of a two-game road trip through South Carolina, falling to USC Upstate 85-73. The Mastodons are now 2-2 on the season.
Haley Seibert led all players with 23 points, including going 9-for-9 at the free throw line. She also tied a career-high with eight rebounds. Keanna Gary finished the afternoon with a season-high 11 points and seven rebounds.
KeShyra McCarver came off the bench to score nine points, while Rachel Rinehart, Courtney Ogle, and Brett Green all added eight. Rinehart finished with a game-high nine rebounds and dished out three assists while Ogle blocked two shots.
