FARGO, N.D. (gobison.com) -- Four Bison scored in double figures to help the North Dakota State University women's basketball team (6-8, 2-0 Summit League) upset reigning Summit League regular season champion and No. 9 mid-major ranked South Dakota State (10-5, 1-1 Summit League), 83-78, at Scheels Arena on Sunday, Jan. 4.
The victory was the first for NDSU over SDSU since the 2010-11 season and the first win over the Jackrabbits in Fargo since 2004-05.
Senior guard Brooke LeMar paced all scorers in the contest, netting 30 points on 11-for-20 shooting, including a 3-for-6 mark from three-point range and a 5-for-7 performance at the free-throw line. Junior forward Holly Johnson added 16 points, with 12 occurring in the second half, and went a game-best 10-for-10 at the foul line, while fellow junior forward Marena Whittle pulled down a team-high nine rebounds and netted 10 points. Senior forward Liz Keena rounded out the Bison in double figures, scoring 10 points on 5-for-9 shooting.

INDIANAPOLIS (iupuijags.com) -- Akilah Sims recorded the third double-double of her career and her first of the season leading the IUPUI women's basketball team past Fort Wayne, 78-68, at The Jungle Sunday afternoon in the Summit League opener for the Jags.
The win improved the Jaguars to 6-8 overall and 1-0 in the Summit League, while Fort Wayne dipped to 6-9 overall and 0-2 in league play.
Sims posted 11 of her team-high 14 points in the second half and also added 10 rebounds to pace IUPUI. She was joined in double-figures by three other players as Nevena Markovic and Caitlyn Tolen each added 12 points and Shaquira Scott chipped in 10 points. Haley Seibert led the Mastodons with 20 points.

MACOMB, Ill. (goleathernecks.com) -- The Western Illinois women's basketball team improved to 2-0 in Summit League play Sunday (Jan. 4) afternoon, as the Leathernecks defeated Omaha by a 71-56 final. The victory marks the first 2-0 conference start since the 2007-08 season. Western Illinois improves to 10-5 (2-0) while the Mavericks dropped to 5-9 (0-2) on the season.
Junior Ashley Luke recorded her second-straight double-double, and seventh this season, as she finished with 16 points and 17 rebounds, while adding five assists. The Oak Creek, Wisconsin, native recorded her 52nd consecutive game in double figures, while her 17 boards matched a career-high. Redshirt freshman Michelle Farrow matched a career-high as she scored 17 points. Farrow was 6-of-7 from the field including a 5-of-6 effort from deep, matching a career-best five made triples.

DENVER (denverpioneers.com) -- The University of Denver women's basketball team defeated Oral Roberts University on Sunday afternoon at Magness Arena. Denver (4-12, 1-1) beat Oral Roberts (6-9, 0-2), 66-57.
After the score was tied at halftime 34-34, the second half started out as a back and forth battle as the teams traded baskets until the 12:20 mark. That is when the Pioneers went on a 12-0 run over the next 2:45, which opened up a 12-point lead 54-42. Freshman Tamara Lee sparked the offense with four points during the Pioneers' run and finished the game with 12 points.
