SDSU Falls at Oregon State in NCAA Tournament First Round

CORVALLIS, Ore. (gojacks.com) -- The South Dakota State University women's basketball team's sixth trip to the NCAA Tournament came to an end Friday, falling 74-62 to No. 3 seed and 10th ranked Oregon State at Gill Coliseum.

The Jackrabbits, who end the season 24-9, led 34-32 at halftime. Freshman guard Macy Miller (Mitchell), who finished with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists, gave the Jacks the halftime lead when scoring in the lane after snaring a rebound from her own missed shot. Miller scored 10 of her points in the first half.

Senior guard Megan Waytashek (Lino Lakes, Minnesota) ended her career with 14 points.

Oregon State was led by Syndney Wiese's 23 points. Ruth Hamblin and Ali Gibson added 17 and 16 points, respectively.

South Dakota State built a 28-21 lead with 6:17 to play in the first half when junior guard Chloe Cornemann (Yankton) sank a three-point field goal. Oregon State responded with an 11-0 run to take a 32-28 lead. The Jacks then closed the half with a 6-0 run.

Oregon State, which took its first lead when Gibson scored at 17:53 to play for a 38-36 advantage, opened the second half with a 25-10 run.
