FORT WAYNE, Ind. (goleathernecks.com) -- For the sixth-straight season, Western Illinois picked up a win in its Summit League opener. Behind the 28 points and 11 assists from senior point guard Emily Clemens, the Leathernecks defeated Fort Wayne 100-64 to improve to 11-4 overall and 1-0 in league play.
 
"I'm very proud of our mental approach following the tough loss at Bradley," said head coach JD Gravina. "Even yesterday, I could tell our players were humbled, but focused on getting better. We came out strong and improved on keeping our aggressiveness high throughout the game."
 
Western Illinois was able to get an early jump on the Mastodons (3-11, 0-1) after Michelle Farrow had five of the team's 10 points at the first media timeout. After getting the Mastodons into foul trouble, the Leathernecks were in the bonus, and took a 13-4 lead with 1:45 to go in the first following two drained shots from the charity stripe by Clemens.

VERMILLION, S.D. (goyotes.com) -- –Sophomore guard Ciara Duffy posted her first collegiate double-double with a career high 24 points and 10 rebounds to lead South Dakota in a 79-51 rout of Denver on Saturday afternoon inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center.
 
The Coyotes (9-5, 1-0 Summit) took their 10th-straight game against the Pioneers (8-7, 0-1 Summit) in series history. South Dakota also moves to 5-2 all-time in Summit League openers.

Oral Roberts 82, Omaha 53 | ORU Recap // UNO Recap 
OMAHA, Neb. (oruathletics.com) -- Maya Mayberry set a new career high with 21 points and led the Oral Roberts women's basketball team past the Omaha Mavericks, 82-53 in the Summit League opener Saturday afternoon at Baxter Arena in Omaha, Nebraska.   

Sarah Garvie and Maya Mayberry opened the game with a pair of back-to-back three-point buckets for the Golden Eagles. ORU then went on to have an explosive first quarter. The Golden Eagles sparked a 14-0 run and then extended the run to 21-2. ORU then went on another 9-2 run to end the quarter. ORU shot 67 percent in the first quarter. The Golden Eagle defense held the Mavericks to six points and 3-for-10 shooting overall. At the end of the first 10 minutes, ORU led Omaha 29-6. Maya Mayberry led the way with 13 first quarter points.
