SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The South Dakota State Jackrabbits won their eighth Summit League Tournament title in the last 10 years by defeating the South Dakota 65-50 at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center Tuesday afternoon in front of a record-breaking championship game crowd of 8,704.
South Dakota State is 4-0 vs. number one seeds and undefeated (8-0) in the title game all-time. In a rematch of the 2016 Summit League Championship game, the Jackrabbits soared out of the gate by shooting 65 percent (13-for-20) from the field and building a 13-point lead at the half.
The Coyotes were unable to recover from their poor start, as they found themselves down 11-0 to begin the game and shot only 21 percent from the field in the first half. The closest South Dakota was ever able to get within was five points, they just could not get over the hump.
