The Summit League announces the 2019 Women’s Basketball All-Academic Team

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Summit League announced the 2018-19 Women's Basketball Academic All-League teams, as voted on by the league's faculty athletic representatives and athletic communications directors. South Dakota and South Dakota State each landed two student-athletes on the five-person team with North Dakota State grabbing the final spot.

The academic all-league team is comprised of the Coyotes' Allison Arens and Ciara Duffy, The Jacks' Macy Miller and Madison Guebert and the Bison's Michelle Gaislerova.

Duffy highlights the academic all-league team. The two-time CoSIDA Academic All-American boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA in Political Science and became just the third Coyote in program history to earn Academic All-America honors twice. The First Team All-Summit League performer led South Dakota in scoring at 14.6 points per game while also helping her squad earn the programs first AP Top 25 ranking and The Summit League's second NCAA Tournament at-large bid.

Arens collected her third consecutive Summit League Academic All-League honor of her career. The Yotes lone senior this year was a member of the CoSIDA Academic All-District team. Her and Duffy became the first pair of Coyotes since 2003 to be on the CoSIDA Academic All-District team. The three-time First Team All-Summit League standout was a semifinalist for the Senior CLASS Award while averaging 12.1 ppg this season. Arens helped guide her squad to the programs first AP Top 25 ranking and an NCAA Tournament at-large bid, the second at-large bid in Summit League history.

Guebert earned her first career Summit League Academic All-League honor after another outstanding season on the court and in the classroom. The senior earned a 3.82 GPA in Early Childhood Education while picking up her third First Team All-Summit League honor. Guebert put together an impressive senior campaign, averaging 13.7 points per game and making 103, 3-pointers. Her 103 made 3-pointers ranks second on The Summit League single-season list.

Miller earned her third career Summit League Academic All-League honor. The Summit League's all-time scoring leader (2,355 career points) and two-time player of the year posted a 3.49 GPA in Exercise Science while scoring 18.2 points per game as a senior. Miller's helped lead her Jackrabbit squad to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. The Jackrabbit's became the first women's basketball team to advance to the Sweet 16 in league history.

Gaislerova earned her first Summit League Academic All-League honor after posting a perfect 4.0 GPA. The Bison sophomore had a solid campaign for North Dakota State on the court while also earning CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District honors. She led her squad in scoring at 14.4 points per game. She set a school record in free throw percentage (92 percent) and made 75 3-pointers, third most in school history. As a journalism major, she was able to cover the WNBA All-Star while also covering the 2019 NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament Chicago Regional and the Men's Final Four.

To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of his team's competitions.
