ELMHURST, Ill. – South Dakota State's Beatriz Souza was named as The Summit League's women's tennis player of the week for her performance Feb. 19-25.

Souza receives her first career award after a perfect 6-0 combined singles and doubles record during the week. Playing the No. 4 singles position, all three of Souza's wins came in straight sets, including victories over Northern Iowa's Jessica King (7-6 (7-5), 6-4) and Green Bay's Rebecca Nelson (4 and 3). At No. 3 doubles, Souza teamed for an 8-7 (7-5) win over UNI and an 8-6 triumph over UWGB. Souza evened her season singles record at 5-5 and has a 5-2 mark in doubles play.
