ELMHURST, Ill. – Denver's Maureen Slattery was named as The Summit League's Women's Tennis Player of the Week following her performances through Jan. 27. The award marks the season's initial honor.

Slattery received her first honor after helping lead No. 62 Denver to a 4-3 victory over No. 39 VCU at the ITA Kick-Off in Chapel Hill, N.C. Playing the No. 2 singles position, Slattery posted a straight-set victory over the nation's No. 81 player, VCU's Yukaka Noi. She also teamed with Sonja Radosevic for a 6-4 victory over VCU at No. 2 doubles. Slattery opened the season with a singles match that went unfinished against No. 3 North Carolina's Hayley Carter, the nation's No. 5 ranked player.
