#SummitVB Academic All-League Team Announced

ELMHURST, Ill. – With the 2017 volleyball season coming to an end last week, The Summit League officially released its Academic All-League team Wednesday. Six student-athletes received the accolade as voted on by faculty athletics representatives and sports information directors from institutions around the league.

Leading the field was South Dakota's Brittany Jessen, who earned her third-career academic all-league distinction. Jessen is also a four-time All-Summit League honoree, South Dakota's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) President and the school's all-time assists leader at 4,826.

Regular season and tournament champion Denver had multiple athletes receive recognition, as seniors Cassie Baird and Cassidy Rooke were named to the all-academic squad for the first time in their careers.

It was also the first-career academic all-league honor for North Dakota State's Brianna Rasmusson, Omaha's Sydney O'Shaughnessy and Fort Wayne's Madison Jaqua.

To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have: a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale); completed at least one full academic year at the current institution; and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions. The volleyball academic all-league team is made up of the student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties standing.
