SIOUX FALLS, S.D. –Denver and Omaha are the only Summit League volleyball teams to remain undefeated in league play heading into another weekend full of action. The two will finally square off Tuesday at 7 p.m. in Omaha, Neb.

Around The League

  • Denver checked in at No. 6 in the latest Volleyball Magazine's Mid-Major Poll with a 16-1 overall record and an undefeated streak in league play. The 16-1 mark is the best start to the Pioneer's season since going 15-2 in 2008.
  • The Pioneers seek to keep their home record perfect as they are set to host two matches this weekend. A match against Purdue Fort Wayne is scheduled for Friday and Western Illinois on Sunday.
  • North Dakota State and North Dakota match up for the second time this season, but this time in Fargo, N.D.  This is the 152nd meeting between the in-state rivals with the Bison leading the series 79-72. Of the last nine meetings, the Fighting Hawks have won seven, including four in a row.
  • North Dakota will return to Grand Forks, N.D. on Sunday to host South Dakota for the first meeting this season and 38th time in the series. The Fighting Hawks currently lead the all-time series 24-13, including a 13-4 mark at home.
  • Before the Coyotes see the Fighting Hawks, the Omaha Mavericks will make an appearance in Vermillion, S.D. South Dakota looks to break Omaha's undefeated league record Friday.
  • The Mavericks' undefeated record in league action is the best the program has seen in its Division I era and best since 2009. Not only are they undefeated in league action, but also inside Baxter Arena as well. After Friday's match at USD, the Mavs return home to play Oral Roberts (Sunday) and Denver (Tuesday).
  • Oral Roberts hopes to improve its season-long win streak to four against Omaha Sunday. The Golden Eagles suffered through an eight-match losing streak at the end of nonconference play and the beginning of league play, but broke the drought with a 3-1 victory at Purdue Fort Wayne Oct. 5.
  • South Dakota State has the home court advantage this week as the Jackrabbits host Western Illinois Friday and Purdue Fort Wayne Sunday. All three teams are looking to break four-plus match losing streaks.
  • The overall series between Western Illinois and South Dakota State tilts in the Jackrabbits favor with a 16-7 lead, but the Leathernecks have won the last two meetings.
  •  Purdue Fort Wayne looks to break its four-match losing streak on the road. The first stop for the Mastodons will be in Denver Friday with South Dakota State to follow on Sunday.
