Nine Cross Country Teams Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Honors
NEW ORLEANS, La. - Six Summit League women's cross country teams and three men's teams were named U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) All-Academic Teams this week. Both the men's and women's teams from IUPUI, UMKC and Southern Utah were honored. A total of 205 institutions represented 30 conferences to compose the women's group and 147 institutions represented 30 conferences to make up the men's group.
Leading the way for the women's teams was UMKC with a cumulative team GPA of 3.66, followed closely by Southern Utah with a 3.64 team GPA. IUPUI tallied a 3.58 and received its 12th-straight award, while Oral Roberts posted a team GPA of 3.53. Rounding out the league members were IPFW with a 3.38 team GPA and Oakland with a 3.31 team GPA, respectively.
On the men's side, UMKC led the league with a cumulative team GPA of 3.26, while IUPUI posted a 3.23 team GPA and Southern Utah tallied a 3.22 GPA. This marks the third-straight year the Jaguars were honored and the eighth time in nine years.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.
