ELMHURST, Ill. – Fort Wayne's Emma Rafuse garnered The Summit League Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week for her performance during the Sept. 1-2 season-opening weekend. The honor marks the first weekly award of the season.
EMMA RAFUSE, FORT WAYNE

- Received her first career Cross Country Athlete of the Week honor
- Finished first at the Crusader Open, topping a field that included Notre Dame (No. 8 national/No. 2 regional) and Purdue (No. 8 regional)
- Posted a school-record 5k time of 16:44.6, a mark that is best on the league's all-time list
- Finished nearly 30 seconds ahead of second-place finisher from Notre Dame
