ELMHURST, Ill. – The Summit League Cross Country Championships are set for Saturday in Macomb, Ill. All six men's teams and seven women's squads will compete for the first two of 19 league championships of the 2017-18 season.
The men's race begins at 11 a.m. CT and the women's race follows at Noon. Both are held at the Bluffs Golf Course and hosted by the University of South Dakota.

South Dakota serves as cross country championships host for the first time … South Dakota State's men to repeat as champions for the third time as a member of The Summit League … SDSU enters the league meet ranked No. 11 in the USTFCCCA Midwest Region rankings … The Jackrabbits have finished first or second in seven of the last eight Summit League Championships … SDSU owns the top two 6k and 8k times, all held by different runners … Three Jacks combined for five Athlete of the Week awards this season, including two each by Kyle Burdick and Chase Cayo … South Dakota's Eldon Warner was the league's Sept. 19 Athlete of the Week and owns the league's third-best 8k time.

South Dakota serves as cross country championships host for the first time … The Coyotes women's looks to become the league's first team to "four-peat" since a run of seven-straight by Southern Utah ended in 2004 … USD enters the league meet ranked No. 7 in the USTFCCCA Midwest Region rankings … Fort Wayne's Emma Rafuse owns the league's top three 5k times and the No. 2 6k time … Rafuse won a league-high four Athlete of the Week honors this season and seeks the Mastodons first individual title since 2008 ... USD's Megan Billington and South Dakota State's Rachel King joined Rafuse as Athlete of the Week honorees during the regular season.
