#SummitXC Academic All-League Teams Announced

ELMHURST, Ill. – Ten Summit League cross country student-athletes, five men and five women, were selected to the 2017 Academic All-League Team as voted by a panel of Faculty Athletic Representatives and Sports Information Directors of the league's member institutions. Student-athletes were chosen for the honor based on their academic and athletic performances this season. South Dakota led the way with four total selections with a pair of men's and women's honorees.

Summit League champion South Dakota State is represented by Championship MVP Chase Cayo of South Dakota State and Kyle Burdick. North Dakota State's Elliott Stone, who received the honor for the second consecutive season, and South Dakota's tandem of Brice Cowman and Eldon Warner round out the squad.

The league women's champion, South Dakota, placed Lindsay Joyce and Erin Wetzstein, who collected the award for the second straight season, on the squad. Championship MVP Rachel King of South Dakota State, Fort Wayne's Emma Rafuse, and North Dakota State's Annika Rotvold completed the team.

To be eligible for the Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of their team's competitions.
